In this video we take advantage of a beautiful January day that happened to coincide with the last day the gate to the parking area is open for the season to hike to Table Rock and The Chimneys in Linville Gorge Wilderness, North Carolina. Linville Gorge is always a beautiful visit and today was no exception. The skies were clear, the weather was nearly perfect, and the crowds were low.

We first hiked up to the summit of Table Rock and enjoyed the glorious 360 degree views from there before taking a side trail to Devil's Cellar. Devil's Cellar is one of my favorite areas in the entire gorge and visiting this spot was just like seeing an old friend - this was my go to area when I would guide groups or individuals out for climbing or rappelling. It had been many years since I had been here and we took our time here today to just take it in.

We returned to the parking lot and took advantage of the picnic tables there for a short break and some lunch before venturing on towards The Chimneys area. My hiking partner for the day, Pizza Planet, was in awe of the views, the cliffs, the caves, the trail… pretty much everything… as is literally everyone that travels this path. It is just simply gorgeous and a very unique area. After spending some time exploring The Chimneys, we ventured down the short side trail to The Camel overlook. I had been calling out The Camel formation all day as we hiked but you really don't understand where the name came from until you see it from the southern end. We were blessed with more stunning views to the south from the surrounding cliffs before climbing back up to the main trail and returning to our car.
