Bali, a province of Indonesia, is located on the western tip of the Lesser Sunda Islands, lying between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. The island is relatively small, with an area of only about 5,780 square kms, so Bali's diverse landscapes can be explored in a relatively short amount of time. Volcanic hills and mountains characterize Bali's terrain. The central part of Bali is dominated by terraced farms with abundant rice cultivation. The north coast has black sand beaches and the south coast has white sand beaches. Deep river valleys, dense forests and beautiful lakes enrich the island's geography.
Religion in Indonesia is full of diversity. About 87% of the population follow Islam. However, the country also recognizes Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism. Meanwhile, Bali is a Hindu-dominated province where 88% of the population are Balinese Hindus. Due to numerous temples in Bali, it is called the island of the gods.
The world's largest archipelago, Indonesia is a diverse and vast country located in Southeast Asia. Consisting of more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia spans nearly 5,000 kms from east to west across three time zones. Indonesia, which lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. With a population of over 270 million, Indonesia has hundreds of ethnic groups with different languages, traditions and cultural practices. Despite challenges including poverty, environmental degradation and natural disasters, Indonesia is a vibrant country with enormous potential for growth and development.
Tourism plays an important role in Indonesia's economy. Attractions ranging from pristine beaches and ancient temples to vibrant cities and lush rainforests have made Bali one of the most sought-after tourist destinations today. Balinese foods, spices, seafood and tropical fruits are the most sought-after dishes by tourists. From its white sand beaches, lagoons and terraced farms to its outdoor adventures, Bali offers a multi-faceted experience that attracts travellers from around the world.
