In 2007 Kennywood Park removed the dark ride Gold Rusher. Ghostwood Estate replaced it in 2008.

Ghostwood Estate is a mixture of Disney's Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlasters. There is a lot of detail that will be missed because the ride is a moving shooting gallery. It can be just a ride but then you can't compete with fellow riders. The Lord Kenneth painting effect is nice and the CGI is alright. The problem is there is no ventilation the the library. Not good when standing next to those individuals who do not wear deodorant.

The Ghost Buggie travels through several rooms and past figures reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion. There is a host, portraits and busts that move, a haunted coffin, a party in a ballroom, a bride and graveyard ghosts. There is narration by Lord Ghostwood but is barely heard over the ride noise and the blasters.

The ride is definitely no Haunted Mansion. I do give them props for trying. I liked Gold Rusher but, in terms of design and technology, Ghostwood Estate is a better ride.

From Wikipedia: "Riders begin by standing in a "library/study" type room when Lord Kenneth (the owner of the estate) literally forces himself out of a picture frame. He informs riders of the ghosts and how you will be able to drive them from his home so that he may live in peace. Each rider then walks up a flight of stairs and approaches the trackless "Ghost Buggies". Each guest is provided with a "Ghost Blaster" to help them eliminate the ghosts. The ride features animatronics, props, and scenery with a mix of computer-generated animation."
