Continuing south on the Via de la Plata, (Spains Silver Route), we visited the lovely old cities of Salamanca and Cáceres.

Salamanca is a University City with a great student culture and lots to see and do for tourists. We stayed at Camping Regio and took the local bus into the town centre to do a self guided tour. The city has lots of history and the buildings tell a story all of their own. We will take you to the Plaza Major, the Casa de las Conchas, the University entrance to play hunt the frog, the Cathedrals where we looked for a fabled Time Traveller inn the form of an Astronaut and then to the convent where Christopher Columbus once stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend in Salamanca and we tyhink that you will too. It has a great student vibe and the delicious assortment of Tapas starts at 1 euro per plate.

Cáceres took us by suprise, we were not sure what to expect here and were a little worried when we saw the state of the official aire. But after moving to a new car park wher motorhomes are allowed we too a walk into the Old centre and immediately fell in love with the place. The old medeival buildings coupled with a very laid back atmosphere made this another highlight on our tour.

This trip just keeps on giving. The Via de La Plata route is a great way to see the spanish way of life, away from the tourist hotspots. Just Brilliant.
