Actually, there are many other ways to store rice so that it lasts, it's just that this method is without a refrigerator so it is more practical and saves electricity. If you are in a hurry, breakfast can be consumed immediately at room temperature, and warmed faster by steaming. It is different if it is stored in the refrigerator, then the rice is very cold or even frozen so it is impossible to consume it immediately. Especially for those who don't have a microwave. I copied this method from my mother's way back home, so hopefully it helps!
