The Origins and Culture of Lowriders
Lowrider car culture began in Los Angeles, California in the mid to late 1940s and grew out of the Mexican-American youth culture of the 1950s, which flourished after the war. Modifications to standard production cars included the addition of lowering blocks and reduced spindles, shortened suspension spring coils, and more!

What is lowrider
Lowriders originated in the 1940s when Mexican-American veterans began customizing "low and slow" cars, in contrast to hot rods customized for speed. During the "Chicano Movement" of the 1970s, lowrider enthusiasts formed car clubs and began using the cars to raise money for their communities.
