Timo “The Agent” Martinez is among the new generation of entertainers releasing fresh music in 2020. A year that has so far been halted with social distancing and lock down orders. Yet he is optimistic and rather happy that his first solo release “DANGRIGA” is finally available online to fans, especially in his home country of Belize.

While Timo was born (October 24th, 1989) in the District of Corozal via Santa Clara village where his dad Lazarus Martinez was a teacher at the time, Timo soon moved to George Town Village in Stann Creek District at the early age of two. This is where he would see his older brothers Patrick Martinez (RIP), Bert “Madness” Martinez, Adrian “The Doc” Martinez, Elroy “Elstar” Martinez and Supa G Martinez rehearsing their musical talent and the love was instant. By age 12, Timo found his way in the recording studio and made his first song appearance on “Dirty Body” alongside “Supa G”.

By the time Timo was 18, Supa G was the owner of the band (Danger Zone) and this is where he would see the light of day while performing gigs around the South. After doing some solo work, Timo eventually joined Di X Band (Alvin “Method” Lewis, Junie Mar, Elstar, Tula, Jonny P) and now currently performs alongside (Elsworth “Vida” Magdaleno, Sheldon Petillo, Dale “Twizz” Guzman, Tiki and Ashley Mendez) on Sweet Pain Band owned by Chico Ramos.
With Garifuna music still in its building stages as far as popularity around the globe, Timo hopes that he can make an impact with his collection of mid tempo and danceable traditional music by eventually touring Central America, USA, Africa, Europe and South America.

First and foremost he said, his music is a reflection of the environment and community in which he was brought up and ready to represent.
With the song “Nuguchuru”, one of the most heartfelt songs on the album, Timo pays homage to his mom (Mrs.Catherine Martinez) and all the other mothers who would rather go without by giving up their last plate of food than to see any of their kids starve. “Uruwei Tuguya” meaning “She’s A Queen” was requested more than ten times by a groom to his newly wed wife and they couldn’t leave the dance floor.
Track # 6 “Luban Furendei” questions the practice of an education system that continues to prepare kids for limited or non-existing jobs instead of changing their curriculum.
Before that to track # 5 and #TimoMartinez is reminiscing about his dead homeboys by remembering the good times. Then to the title track “DANGRIGA” which grabs you by the hand and takes you on a personal tour of Dangriga that highlights visiting places like Gullisi Museum, Drum Making Center, enjoying popular music genre’s like Punta and Wanaragua/Jancunu while the talk of tasty Garifuna Food only gets you in the mood for more.
When asked about his favorite song, Timo replied that the topic of each song were all so different that they stood in a league of their own but that the intro beat of “Aban Fulasu / A Place” was the party starter even though the subject matter was serious.

Overall the thought provoking lyrics of “DANGRIGA” mixed with Acoustic Guitars, Shakers, Electric Keyboards and Garifuna Drum Beats captures your emotions and soothes your soul by allowing you to question, give props and cherish the people, places and situations that you can control.
