Now Sold!

Simply the best buy in the world for one of these legendary cruisers.

This particular Amel Super Maramu has spent more than half her life hauled out of the water and under covers as her original owner only sailed her a few months of each year. Compare her to boats that have spent their entire lives in service and in the water and anyone who understands fiberglass will see the attraction of a dry hull that has never even seen a hint of osmosis!

Add to this her relatively young, low hours engine and generator, her exceptional sail inventory, and her overall very good cosmetic condition, and then consider her recent improvements and excellent maintenance and you will agree that this is by far the best value for a Super Maramu anywhere on the planet.

An exceptional blue-water cruiser, the Amel Super Maramu is world-renowned among discerning yachtsmen. Luxuriously appointed, solidly built with top-quality materials and many extra safety features (like water-tight compartmentalization), the Super Maramu is a sailor’s dream. Down below, she is extremely comfortable yet eminently practical in design with two staterooms and heads, two extra single berths in the side cabin and main cabins, sumptuously upholstered settees, beautiful African mahogany throughout, and storage that is more than ample. On deck, sailing is a joy with everything operated from the helm: Electric furling sails, Electric winches, anchor windlass and retractable bow thruster all within easy reach. The helm has a comfortable chair and is protected by a solid dodger with hard windscreen that opens when ventilation is desired. Storage lockers are plentiful and there is a huge cockpit locker and enormous lazarette aft, plus two sizable deck lockers forward.

This Super Maramu was singlehanded across the Atlantic in 1992 has been sailed seasonally in the Caribbean ever since. She had been hauled out for each summer since 1996 and has been covered while on shore to keep her gelcoat shiny and nice. She was re-powered with a much more ecological and efficient Volvo turbo diesel in 2005 (which currently has only 1130 hours) and had a new generator installed in 2005 as well. (617 hrs), She had new sails added in 2008 and 2012 with seasonal usage and many of her electronics have been updated with state of the art pieces as well. Cosmetically, she appears to have been maintained exceptionally well and shows better than many of her much younger sisterships.

In 2015 she had a full Seahawk epoxy barrier coating done to her bottom which had her many layers of paint stripped and the bottom was checked for moisture and found to be completely dry. In 2021she had a fresh bottom paint with 3 coats of Micron 99 including again removing all old paint and was primed with even more epoxy over her dry, smooth bottom.
As with most Amels, her standard features and equipment list is far too long to enumerate here and so please look in the section under ‘details’ for a complete list of her special features and gear.

This vessel should be very much on the short list for any cruising couple looking for a serious blue water sailing vessel. She is top-quality in every feature. Owner-created comprehensive operation manual for this specific vessel is included. Her owner has purchased another Amel and so is keen to sell so has priced her very attractively to ensure a timely sale.
