Nicholas Müller is a musician. Until a couple of years ago, he and his band Jupiter Jones used to fill arenas with up to 50,000 fans. Then Nicholas got an anxiety disorder which changed his life completely. Nicholas has struggled to deal with his anxieties, and lately published a book on the subject. He pleads in favour of fatalism to overcome fear. For him, contentedness is the real happiness – a state between the extremes of absolute momentary happiness and the most profound unhappiness. Six years ago the band Jupiter Jones had their biggest success. The song „Still“ is about the death of the mother of singer Nicholas Müller. Three years later he had to leave the band because of an anxiety disorder, which began on the day of his mother’s funeral. At TEDxMünster, Nicholas Müller talks about the fears we all have. We are all too anxious, Nicholas says, because of our inability to accept the things we cannot change.” He says: „It is only shit when it is shit.“ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
