The Arabic word “souk” refers to an indoor or outdoor marketplace in northern Africa or the Middle East where commodities and services are exchanged or sold.
Don’t be afraid to negotiate prices—it’s expected in the souk. We Desis are good in bargaining. We bought some cushion covers from the souk. One shopkeeper negotiated from $15 to $10. The other shopkeeper gave us $6 per cushion.

I know many of you from India might say that we can get you good quality cushions for 200 rupees.

Let me share my secret with you. I do bargain in India too. First, I pay the negotiated price then I give separately more than the original price to the shopkeeper.

Kya Kare bargain tho ham desis ke blood mei hai. But ek street vendor ko oska asking price baad mei zaroor dena chaiye.
