Elīna Garanča performing "Nacqui all'affanno... Non più mesta" from Rossini's opera La Cenerentola during the final of the 2001 Cardiff Singer Of The World competition.
The Latvian mezzo-soprano gained major recognition following her 2003 Salzburg Festival appearances. Engangements at renowned opera houses around the world soon followed, including the Met and Vienna State Opera. She has released various audio recordings over the years, including the Grammy Award winning Bajazet conducted by Fabio Biondi, in which she sang the role of Andronicus.
