Kaiser Wilhelm II., geboren am 27. Januar 1859, war der letzte deutsche Kaiser und König von Preußen, der von 1888 bis 1918 regierte. Als Enkel von Königin Victoria und Sohn von Kronprinz Friedrich und Victoria von Großbritannien und Irland wuchs Wilhelm in einer vom preußischen Militarismus und der britischen Monarchie geprägten Umgebung auf. Trotz seiner künstlerischen Neigungen und Liebe zur Familie prägte er die deutsche Politik durch seinen autoritären Führungsstil und eine aggressive Außenpolitik, die zur Eskalation internationaler Spannungen beitrug. Wilhelm förderte die wirtschaftliche Modernisierung, soziale Reformen und wissenschaftliche Innovationen, hinterließ aber auch ein zwiespältiges Erbe des Militarismus und der diplomatischen Isolation.
