Power poses don’t work for me. This does.

(and how it increases my confidence to command the room)

“Increase your confidence with power poses!”

That was the premise behind Amy Cuddy’s popular Ted Talk,
“Your body language may shape who you are.”

For those of you who don’t know,
Amy Cuddy is a social psychologist at Harvard.

The idea behind Power Poses
is to take a very expansive posture
- super hero, wonder woman, X.

And it will boost your confidence before big events -
interviews, meetings, dates.

There’s an ongoing debate if this actually works
because other social psychologists haven’t been able to reproduce Cuddy’s results.

If Power Poses work for you, great.

They don’t work for me.

This does.

It’s called embodiment.

And it’s the same thing actors do when playing a role.

Josh Brolin embodied a rat when he played George W. Bush in W.

Robert Patrick embodied an eagle when he played the T1000 in Terminator 2.

And Margot Robbie embodied a pit bull when she played Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.

If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me.

Give the video a watch.

Let me know if this works for you.
