In today's video I address why the scapegoat child and survivor may only feel real when they feel bad. The child had to find a way to exist with a parent who insisted they were bad. Now the child must avoid experiences and outcomes that reflect their goodness. The scapegoat survivor may wonder why they have had to abandon or thwart progress toward important life goals. They may often blame themselves for "messing things up." After watching this, you will understand why this was the only way to keep existing at the time. My hope is that this understanding can yield compassion towards yourself and be a step towards seeing yourself as you actually are.
Knowing the truth about your strength is a critical step in healing from narcissistic abuse.
