Standing in front of the Vermont History Center in Barre is a statue of Scottish poet Robert Burns. Why is there a statue in Vermont? Barre was home to scores of Scottish immigrants who came to work in the city's granite quarries, and brought with them their love of Burns' poetry. Local enthusiasts came together to form a chapter of a Burns Club, and erected the statue in 1899. Vermont Historical Society Executive Director Steve Perkins and Director of Collections and Access Amanda Kay Gustin chat with ABC 22 & Fox 44 Anchor Mike Hoey about the statue and its legacy.
