In this video, I will be showcasing Kato's new "SL Hitoyoshi" train set with an unboxing and a few laps around my track.

"SL Hitoyoshi" is a special excursion train run on the Kagoshima and Hisatsu lines in the country of Japan. This special train has been operated by the Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu) since April 2009. This train was created to celebrate the Hisatsu line's 100th anniversary and it runs from Kumamoto and Hitoyoshi.

The train is operated by a JGR Class 8620 steam locomotive, number 58654, and consists of three modified OHa 50 Series coaches. A Class DE10 diesel engine is sometimes added to the back of the train to assist the steam engine. This diesel can be purchased from Kato separately and can be given its own special headboard included in this set.

Fun Fact: Through November 2020, SL Hitoyoshi was specially decorated to commemorate the new movie, "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train," which featured a Class 8620 steam engine. During this time, the train ran its excursion from Kumamoto to Hakata Station.
