In December 2014, computational biologist Lior Pachter published a blog post that sent ripples through the scientific and public communities. Titled "The Perfect Human is Puerto Rican," the post detailed a thought experiment that involved constructing a hypothetical "perfect" human genotype based on available genetic data. While Pachter himself characterized the experiment as a "tongue-in-cheek" exploration, the implications and reactions to his findings were far from trivial as many were taking it as a serious scientific study.
