Follow this workflow to add armature, weight paint your model and create poses in Blender. This is a workflow that follows a simple character. Easy and quick!

We are going to add armature, scale it and position for our model. Because we have a model with additional bones, not included in this metarig, we are going to extrude and make them! For the ears we are just using one bone, named with correct suffix and symmetrized.
For the tail we are making more tail bones and adding IK bone at the end.

After parenting with assigned weights we are going to have stretching we don't want. Because of that we need to weight paint correctly. Blue color means no affect, red is a total affect on the mesh and colors between are transitional affects.

After weight painting we are creating poses that we are going to save individually so we can combine them!
