Roberto Clemente changed Major League Baseball forever. Leading by example, he paved the way for other Latin American ballplayers to follow in his footsteps. On the field, he always hustled, and gave his all every game. Clemente shined on both offense and defense, leading the league in batting average four times and throwing out more runners than any right fielder in National League history. His arm was among the best this game has ever seen! Off the field, his humanitarian efforts inspired an award to be renamed in his honor. Clemente overcame racial and societal barriers to become one of baseball’s all time greats.
