WHY DO CATHOLICS WORSHIP STATUES? COULD IT BE IDOLATRY?
After publishing videos on saints, prayer, and various religious dynamics, we feel obliged to address a significant issue regarding the use of sacramentals, statues, icons, relics, and holy images in Catholicism. Is this practice a form of idolatry? Protestants assert that it is, citing the Second Commandment in their version of the Ten Commandments from Exodus 20:4-5. In this video, we explore whether the Catholic use of statues and icons constitutes idolatry and discuss the difference between veneration and worship. Additionally, we explain how the New Testament has transformed the old law and analyze the veneration of sacred images in the biblical and historical tradition of the Church.
