(13 Feb 2017) BLONDIE'S DEBBIE HARRY TALKS ABOUT DRESSING HER AGE A THE ELLE STYLE AWARDS
Blondie's Debbie Harry may be synonymous with style but even she has doubts about dressing her own age.
Speaking at the Elle Style Awards in London on Monday night (13 FEB), the iconic singer said no matter what she tries to make herself "feel gorgeous and comfortable and sexy".
Harry was given the Style Icon award at the ceremony in central London and was joined by a host of fashion, film and music stars.
Beth Ditto was one such guest who could not hide her appreciation for Harry and her iconic style.
"The beauty of it all is that she doesn't need validation and that's what's cool about it, that's what keeps her going. She doesn't need anyone to give her an award."
Also a winner was Heloise Letisser, the French artist behind Christine and the Queens, who won the Album of the Year award.
Known for her individuality, Letisser said she did not like to define her own style to closely.
"It is still an ongoing process for me to actually find my identity and define it and I actually like not to define it too much by changing constantly clothes and shapes and names."
Winner of the Breakthrough Actress award, American Sasha Lane, best known for her recent performance in "American Honey", was honored to be recognized at the event.
"I don't necessarily care much for like the awards but the fact that to be in these certain categories with all these incredible women, in all these incredible films I think that's special, you know, it's such an honor."
Other winners included actress Emma Watson who took home the Woman of the Year award and Riz Ahmed for Actor of the Year.
The Elle Style Awards were held in association with H&M, celebrating 20 years of British style.
