Bobby Jones (Robert Tyre Jones Jr.) was an American amateur golfer and a lawyer by profession, born on March 17, 1902, in Atlanta, Georgia. Widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time, Jones dominated the sport in the 1920s and early 1930s. He is best known for winning the Grand Slam in 1930, securing victories in all four major golf tournaments of that era (The Open Championship, The Amateur Championship, the U.S. Open, and the U.S. Amateur) in a single calendar year.

Jones retired from competitive golf at the young age of 28 but continued to influence the sport significantly. He co-founded the Augusta National Golf Club and co-created the Masters Tournament, one of the most prestigious events in professional golf. Jones also contributed to golf literature, authoring several books on the subject.

Jones battled a debilitating spinal condition, syringomyelia, later in life, which significantly impacted his health. He passed away on December 18, 1971, in Atlanta, Georgia.
