Another tow lot special? OF COURSE! Some of the cars we get in for parts come from various tow lots. There are some cars I buy from the tow lot blind, meaning I didn't go look at them first, and just bought based on a loose description and VIN. This is one of those. We do so many Bmw's that its easy to buy based on vin and not get terribly hurt if the car ends up with a lot of bad parts.
This 2008 BMW 328xi sedan was abandoned in the city of saint Louis, and towed after receiving many parking tickets. It had plates that expired in November of 2022, and was likely parked from before then as I found tickets back from September of 2022. Since it was towed, the previous owners had a chance to get it back out of impound but never made an attempt and an abandoned salvage title was issued allowing my salvage yard to legally purchase the car.
This car was completely locked. No Key. No way in the car! This video shows most of how we handle cars like this, and some of the decision making required to get the best return on our investment.
I know many have asked to see more aspects of the business and I am here to attempt to show you some of how the auto salvage industry operates. Many yards claim its "illegal" for them to sell cars but ultimately its more of the owners discretion and how they are licensed. My goal in this industry is to reduce waste, and the need to produce new parts that exist in perfectly operable condition. That also applies to complete vehicles and often times I find it just as profitable to put a car back on the road. This is a decision that will require quite a lot more investigation than in this video. Will there be a second video? Never say never.
