STORYLINE
BIEBER MEETS JAPAN QUAKE VICTIMS
Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber met with victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami in Tokyo on Wednesday (18th May 2011).
Bieber wished nine students from the hardest hit areas of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima a brighter future and invited them to his upcoming shows in Japan.
"Things can get better and things will get better. There's only good times to come. My prayers go out to all of your families and all of you."
Bieber also met with Jonathan Fried, the Ambassador of Canada to Japan and John Roos, the Ambassador of the U.S. to Japan who thanked Bieber for visiting the country during difficult times.
Bieber is the biggest pop star to visit Japan since the March 11th disasters as many other acts have cancelled tours due to radiation fears.
A school principal seemed most excited to meet Bieber, exclaiming "I love you!" while one student read out a message and thanked Bieber for his invitation and support.
"It will take time before Otsuchi (Iwate prefecture) gets back to the way it was before the disaster, but the people of the village and us children will give our efforts to rebuild. Thank you so much for inviting us today. We hope you will continue to encourage us through your music," he said.
Justin is playing two dates in Japan as part of the second leg of his 'My World' tour, which also took him to Hong Kong, China and Taipei, Taiwan.
Outside the Ambassador's residence a group of screaming fans gathered to glimpse the singer being driven away.
