Gwen clearly cares deeply for Miles. She loves him as a person, she shares herself with him in a way she can't with anyone else, she even risks her standing in the Spider Society to spend time with him. But despite Miles demonstrating his clear romantic attraction to her, she turns him down and gently but firmly maintains the friendship boundaries. Why is it so important for Gwen to remain friends and only friends? And not just with Miles but with Peter as well? Why can't Gwen get close to people? Is it because of her traumas with Peter's death and her Dad's betrayal? Or does it go beyond that?
