TRAINER EMERGENCY: Edin Terzić leaves Borussia Dortmund - background and successor

It's official: Borussia Dortmund and coach Edin Terzić are going their separate ways. BVB has announced that Terzić has asked for his contract to be terminated immediately and that this request has been granted. Recently there have been reports of tensions between Terzić and Mats Hummels, which may have contributed to the decision. Last season's sporting performances, in which Dortmund only finished fifth in the Bundesliga and failed to qualify for the Champions League, have also built up pressure. Terzić spoke out in an emotional video message and thanked everyone who supported him. According to media reports, Nuri Şahin, who joined the team as assistant coach at the beginning of the year, could become Terzić's successor. Borussia Dortmund is now facing a fresh start, both in management and on the coaching bench.
