Brazil and Costa Rica played to a goalless draw in their Copa America Group D opener in Los Angeles on Monday. Despite having over 75% possession in the first half, Brazil struggled to break down Costa Rica's defense and missed several scoring opportunities. A disallowed goal for offside added to Brazil's frustration as they were unable to find the back of the net. Despite dominating possession in the second half as well, Brazil failed to capitalize on their chances, with Lucas Paqueta hitting the woodwork and Guilherme Arana's shot saved by Costa Rica's goalkeeper. Coach Dorival Junior made substitutions in the 70th minute in search of a winning goal, but Brazil's efforts fell short as they were unable to score. With Colombia leading Group D after a 2-1 victory over Paraguay, Brazil will look to bounce back in their next match.
