Sab Squadron j29 tunnin quickly took to the sky despite their age Swedish Pilots take great pride in this venerable aircraft also known as the flying Barrel it was the first postor War II fighter jet to successfully feature a swept-wing design and remained a formidable Force when it was deployed over the Republic of the Congo in 1961 the Sab 29 tuna was a Swedish fighter aircraft designed and manufactured by Sab in the late 1940s it was the second turbojet powered fighter developed in Sweden the first being the Sab 21r and it was the first Western European fighter aircraft to be produced with swept Wings After the War World War II only preceded in Western Europe as a whole by the Mi 20062 built during the war despite its beefy appearance from which it gets its name the j29 was fast and agile and functioned effectively
