Last part of a ten-part round trip through Franconia, with well-known places and less well-known insider tips that are definitely worth seeing.

Burg Cadolzburg
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1157 when the bailiff of Kadolzburg, a "Helmericus de Kadoldesburc", agreed to an exchange of goods between the diocese of Würzburg and the monastery of Heilsbronn. The place name can be explained as Kadold's castle (Burg des Kadold). If it goes back to Count Kadold, who founded the monastery of Herrieden around 793, it would have been an early medieval fortification from the 8th century. It is more likely that it emerged from an allodial lordship of the Abenberg family in the early 11th century.

Schloss Grumbach
is a castle in Rimpar (Lower Franconia) and is the town's biggest attraction. It was built in the 14th century by a line of the Franconian noble family Wolfskeel, who initially called themselves "Wolfskeel von Grumbach", later just "von Grumbach", and is now home to a museum and numerous exhibitions. Well-known representatives of the Rimpar line of (Wolfskeel) von Grumbach were Prince-Bishop Johann III von Grumbach and Wilhelm von Grumbach.

Grotte Theater Calypso
A gem just outside the city limits of Bayreuth, about 25 km from Bamberg in Franconian Switzerland near Wonsees / Hollfeld. Built in 1747 according to the ideas of Margravine Wilhelmine, it was rediscovered as a venue by the Bayreuth Studio Stage in 1985.

Burgruine Hohenberneck
In 1478, Veit von Wallenrode was enfeoffed with the castle barn of the former Walpotenburg, which was built on this site before 1168 by Ulrich II Walpot, on the condition that a castle be built there. At this time, Veit was the bailiff of the Old Castle, which lies directly below Hohenberneck. The Old Castle had been mortgaged to the Wallenrode family since 1406 and was repurchased immediately before the enfeoffment in 1477, so that Veit von Wallenrode had the necessary funds to build the castle.
