For this week’s project I’ll be taking a piece of Oak which I picked up at a place down the street that sells firewood. When Harry and I spotted this crotch, we knew we just had to have it. I had a lot of thoughts on this piece of wood and how to turn it. Initially I thought I might actually make it look human like but realized the two limbs were to different in diameter and would make for some funny looking hips.

So I eventually settled on a hollow form with a natural edge opening.

This piece was sanded while still a little wet so it has developed a lovely texture as it fully dried. It’s finished with Mahoney’s Walnut Oil.
