Marcus LeMarr Allen, born on March 26, 1960, is a retired American football running back renowned for his 16-season career in the National Football League (NFL), notably with the Los Angeles Raiders. Recognized as one of the premier goal line and short-yard runners in NFL history, Allen was drafted 10th overall by the Raiders in the 1982 NFL Draft after a stellar college football tenure with the USC Trojans. Spending 11 seasons with the Raiders and concluding his final five with the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen amassed impressive statistics, rushing for 12,243 yards, receiving 587 passes for 5,412 yards, and scoring 145 touchdowns, with a notable 123 rushing touchdowns, a record at the time. His achievements include six Pro Bowl selections and aiding the Raiders in winning Super Bowl XVIII. Notably, Allen was the first NFL player to surpass 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards in his career. He holds a unique distinction as the sole player to have secured the Heisman Trophy, an NCAA national championship, a Super Bowl victory, and being named NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP. Allen's contributions earned him induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003, and the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
