Spring tides and summer tines blend together in the District of Diantha, a gentle breeze flowing downstream from deep inland all the way to the East Andhyl Sea.

On a bench sits Miko, gazing out towards waters dotted by jumping fish.

She eats away at the ice cream in her hands, taking care not to spill any on the pink sneakers Rumi had just gifted her yesterday, though that is easier said than done. Its edges melt over the cone, and the sweat running down her cheeks itches at her.

Miko shakes her head, regretting sitting out here instead of shopping with Rumi at the book store down the road.

But if she hadn’t taken this brief moment for herself, would she ever have paid so much thought to this waterfront?

This is her first time here by Diantha’s seaside. All of this is new—she reminds herself this over and over again, if only to help her appreciate this idyllic view more.

And when the summer warmth robs her of a chance to lie in a breeze amongst fields of flowers…

…what more does she have than sheer, unquestioning appreciation?

Soon, Rumi will be back, and their trips will continue far, far away from this slide of Diantha.

Miko’ll just let herself enjoy the view, so that she may recall it perfectly many, many years from now.
