- A timely song, especially as we go through the life-changing Covid-19 Pandemic -
I first heard this song being sung by Cece Winans at Whitney Houston's farewell service. I immediately fell in love with it and how Cece sang it with such gentle, restrained passion. I later came across Whitney's rendition at an HIV/AIDS function back in 1994. Whitney delivered this song in such a powerful, soul-stirring way that if you have a loved one who passed away, you can't help but feel that Whitney was channelling that individual. After Whitney, I did not think anyone else could render 'Don't Cry' in a moving way. But Shanice has proven once again why I have dubbed her 'incomparable.' What amazes many people is how Shanice can straddle such a sweet tender tone in one instance and then a big, glass-shattering voice in the next. Shanice caresses each word as she brings the audience into a reflection of not only the wonderful human they gathered to bid farewell, but for each person to introspect and understand the purpose of their existence.
I hope you will be touched by Shanice' Wilson's performance as I am sure you have been by the other two talented sisters.
