The film shows the herding of the water buffaloes living in the Hortobágy Great Fishponds which is part of the Hortobágy National Park. This animal does not really like the winter weather, so they spend this period in stables. However, with the arrival of spring, when the pastures turn green, they are released into a 60-hectare area where they can live freely and undisturbed. They stay outside until the end of autumn.
My personal story about them is that in the beginning they were very shy and distrustful, then a buffalo broke out of the herd and came closer and closer to me. Seeing this, the others also started walking towards me and began to graze peacefully.

A film a Hortobágyi Nemzeti Park területén lévő Hortobágy-halastavi bivalyok kihajtását mutatja be. A téli időjárást nem igazán kedveli ez az állat, ezért ezt az időszakot istállókban tölti. A tavasz érkeztével viszont amikor kizöldülnek a legelők, kiengedik őket egy 60 hektáros területre, ahol szabadon és zavartalanul élhetnek. Egészen az ősz végéig kint is maradnak.
A személyes történetem velük kapcsolatban az, hogy kezdetben nagyon félénkek és bizalmatlanok voltak, majd a csordából kivált egy bivaly és egyre közelebb lépkedett hozzám. Ezt látva a többiek is elindultak felém, majd békésen legelni kezdtek.
