Rolex False Scarcity, Flippers and AD Back door deals - we've all heard the theories, but what is true and what isn't? I've always been quite clear in my love for Rolex ;) but the Rolex purchasing experience is often... Not the best. There is nothing worse than when you are waiting for a specific watch, you have the money ready and you'd absolutely love it - THENNNN seeing it crop up on Chrono24 because a flipper got it first.

But I think it SEEMS like only flippers are getting watches - but when you think about the scale of Rolex and how many are in the secondary market - they aren't only going to flippers. I don't even think 10% are going to flippers. Then, of course, there is the false scarcity question mark - can Rolex be making more watches than they currently are? Does it serve them well to make more watches? Are they doing this on purpose?
The watch market has taken a big downturn. The gold rush is over and the golden era of flipping is kinda over. And the last thing we need to talk about is AD (Authorised Dealer) practices. each AD operates so differently.

ANYWAYS these are just some of my thoughts on the current Rolex climate. I'd love to hear some of yours!
