#247. CAN I MAKE A STONE Out Of RESIN! THIS IS CRAZY!


In todays Resin Art video we 'Crack' a brand new resin art technique! We make our own resin inks using isopropyl alcohol alongside some cheap neon nail powders.

This ink evaporates very fast which makes it more suitable for UV resin art (but not mixed in to the UV resin), it will dry as the resin is being cured and will crack due to the resin shrinking and heat.

This produces such a natural stone look, my jaw dropped when I demolded these pieces!

Again, it's very early stages, we need to test with different powders including mica powders and so many backing options! Watch this space! I think this is a huge break through for resin art!


Ok, now for the disclaimer! Isopropyl alcohol is extremely flammable! NO FLAMES OR TORCHES! NO SOURCES OF IGNITION! Isopropyl can self ignite but it requires a temperature of 400C/750F, UV resin can get hot whilst curing (not as hot as the isopropyl needs to be to self ignite) however, Isopropyl fumes can ignite if there are any sources of ignition near by, I do not know which lamps you are using or if they may have breaks in the wires (source of ignition).... for this, I am advising not to try this experiment at home!
