2020 RefComm Global Presentation

Nucleonic technologies are often used where other measuring principles fail. They are most suitable in applications with extreme process conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, abrasiveness, or where internal installations like agitators are present. In the area of oil & gas such conditions and installations are very common.

Additionally, O+G processes, which are often controlled by licensed process (e.g.: DCU, CCR and FCCU), require high reliability and efficiency in their measurement. Also, the measurement must not be affected by external radiation during non-destructive testing (NDT).

The presentation will cover experiences for level measurement in Delayed Coking Unit using a nucleonic isotope and the most sensitive scintillation technology. The latest practical know-how with respect to these applications will also be shared.
