Thiruvathira dance or Thiruvathirakali is a dance performed during the Kerala festival Onam and on Thiruvathira day (December-January). Women dance in groups around a lamp called the Nila Vilakku, clapping and singing. The dance is known for its grace and femininity, and the women wear traditional Kerala attire, such as off-white saris. The dance is said to be a celebration of womanhood and to bring blessings for eternal marital bliss.
