Using the LTC3106 and the SparkFun ESP8266 Thing Dev Board with the Cayenne app you can build an Energy Harvester that will gather energy from a solar panel, store excess energy into rechargeable battery or Super-capacitor and then using it to power a sensor adding Internet capability to it.
