Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is the largest functioning HIndu temple in the world. We stared our day by visiting this temple at 5.30 am, followed by exploring local places to eat and explore food.

Description of the places visited by us on the “Trichy to Madurai” tour

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple - We started our day in the early morning at the South gate of “Shri Ranganathaswamy Temple”, Trichy. This is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu & It’s located in Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli.

The temple architecture is in Dravidian style. This temple spans over an area of 156 acres, which makes it the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world.

After this, we visited a Terrace from which we can see the 21 gopurams of this temple.

Breakfast near Temple - After this, we traveled 1.5 km from the temple and had our breakfast at the 70-year-old eatery - Partha Sarathy Vilas. We had Rava Pongal & filter coffee in the breakfast.

Rock Fort - Then we travelled around 4 km and reached Rock Fort, Trichy. At the entrance, we were told that you have to climb 400 stairs to reach at top of the fort, but I dropped my visit because 2 years back I had my “Meniscus Tear” surgery so I had to avoid the stairs climbing.

We had a view of Rock Fort from the distance on the top of the fort there are 2 Temples. The Temple on the fort is built by the Pallava rulers 1200 years back.

Sri Venkatesa Bhavan - After this, we had some snacks at the 85-year-old eatery - Sri Venkatesa Bhavan here we had Vada and Rava Pongal.

Muruli Coffee - Then we had a filter coffee at Muruli Coffee its just nearby to the temple.

Lunch New Madura Hotel - After this, we had our lunch at the old eatery “New Madura Hotel” - Traditional South-Indian Thali
