This is a cheap and simple way to compress a brake caliper piston without the need for any special tools. All you need is a couple of small pieces of wood and a couple of screwdrivers. This method works with most front brake calipers as the pistons push straight back into the caliper. It will not work with most rear brake caliper pistons as they have to be rotated as they are being pushed in due to the integrated handbrake mechanism. NOTE: While not absolutely necessary, it is recommended that you open the caliper bleed screw and drain the old fluid as you push the piston back into the caliper. This will prevent the old fluid from being pushed back through the brake lines and also prevent the fluid reservoir from overflowing. If you do open the bleed screw, make sure you don't let any air get into the system.
