In this episode of Designing a Custom, Modern Home we are building a study model of conceptual option 01.

By building a physical model it allows us to test design ideas, forms, massing and scale quickly. The act of building the physical model, rather than jumping right into a digital design software creates a greater connection to the work and the opportunity to think abstractly about the design, rather than getting tied down with the details and assemblies that the computer warrants.

A study model is very similar to a sketch, but a sketch you can hold in your hand, and look through and around and it is a very useful tool for architects to design better, more thought out buildings.
