The cold water input tube (dip tube inside) on my freestanding upright hot water heater broke and there was no way I was going to get it out. i was unable to find one and so I made one. The dip tube puts the cold water at the bottom of the tank so the hot water coming out the top can stay hot for longer. When it broke off inside, the cold water coming in the top mixed with the hot water and I had luke warm showers after about 4 minutes.This is how I fixed the issue.
