This oil painting of a bighorn ram overlooking a Yellowstone-inspired landscape is based on Gibbon Falls. I was inspired from a visit to this waterfall and my extensive time spend in the Greater Yellowstone backcountry. A big ram takes the lead and his fellow rams bring up the rear. A bald eagle soars overhead beneath a magnificent rainbow. A rider takes his pack train of horses across the river while a second eagle watches from an old dead tree. This painting captures a story which I've wanted to tell for some time and I'm happy to share the process with you today.
