This is the reprofiled HSTS Tsunami I won during the 2014 UBC cutting contest. I decided shortly after receiving the blade I would test how long I could go without polishing or sharpening the sword. Well, here mid 2019, I finally decided to do some minor detail work.

The blade still does not need to be sharpened, but the polish was looking a bit rough, I took the blade to 320 grit sandpaper and a bit of mothers mag. The final result was a shabby polish, but most of the rust was removed.

I intend to take the blade to my stones eventually, but for now the polish is good enough. It is my go to blade for any cutting, so the polish is not of great concern for me.

my main surprize after all this use was the fact that the sword does not need to be sharpened at all! Still the sword is in excellent cutting condition.

The ito is in almost perfect condition (minus the discoloration from use), and all the tsuka fittings are still in great order. The tsuba is a bit loose, but this is how I received it from Randy at UBC years ago (he tried to remove the tsuka by prying at the seppa and tsuba intending to loosen the tsuka from the nakago, in doing so loosening the tsuba).

All in all, this is the best sword I have ever used, I dont need another sword.
