Breathing Apparatus training is considered one of, if not the most important aspect of the Retained Firefighter role. Filmed over 3 days in Newbridge and Hacketstown Fire Stations, this video depicts a small amount of what the firefighters go through in order to become a competent BA wearer for their Fire Service.

In this short video you will see members of Kildare, Carlow and Laois Fire Services take part in their QQI Accredited Breathing Apparatus course along with Compartment Fire Behaviour Training (CFBT) which teaches them about the fundamentals of fire and how fire works. With this training then, Firefighters can take control of a situation, rather than the situation controlling them.

The BA course is considered one of the most challenging courses that you will go through in your firefighting careers, and takes place early into the careers of firefighters across Ireland.
