In July 2013, the only Ukrainian-language copy of the iconic Ukrainian film "Chasing Two Hares" was found in the Mariupol Film Archive. In the beginning, the original version did not include the Russian language. After all, the film was planned for local distribution only in the Ukrainian Soviet Republic. But later the film was redubbed in Russian — and the original copy disappeared for half a century, like most films with original Ukrainian soundtracks. The Ukrainian language in cinema turned out to be dangerous.

The documentary series "Between the Droplets" talks how the culture of Ukraine survived in the Soviet Union. In those dark times, a creative approach helped to circumvent and defeat censorship. Fortunately, not all pro-Ukrainian people were imprisoned in camps and mental institutions. In fact, there were many professionals working to study the rules of the game - and “between the droplets” - preserve Ukrainian culture.
