Gaspar Noé films are notoriously difficult to watch, and I've covered three of them. Climax (2018), while considered by many of his avid fans as inferior to his other works, are widely known as his most 'anxious' - or should it be 'insane' - film to date, and I do not disagree.

But what makes Climax such a nerve-racking experience?
Technically, the prize goes to the film's use of 'sounds', especially its diegetic music. But the real secret to Climax's panic-inducing atmosphere is in the film's use of 'anticipation'.

Let's take a look at Noé's rollercoaster ride of a film from 2018, and see what tricks he employs to keep you at the edge of your seat.
