I do love a Taperite, which is probably I wanted to get this one near the end of the Hooded Nib Series (I think I'll add one more video with a couple Parkers just to give them some time). This hooded nib, while not innovative in any real way - still a classic lever filler, leaned on what the brand did best with fun nibs and classic designs to make a pen that was able to stand on it's own merits. As is the case with the other non-parker hooded nibs the nib/feed/section is a bit awkward to deal with but a simple flushing can suffice. The rest of the restoration is just a good polish and a sac replacement. The legacy/headache of these pens, however, is the slight shrinkage of the material and the incredibly adherent adhesive they used to keep the section in place (bet they thought it would be a good thing). So care must be taken to soak, heat, and gently coax the section off the barrel in a lot of cases.
If you make it through the restoration these pens are a real joy to right with and have just enough styling to feel a bit fresh for the time but also classic enough to feel dependable
