Sometimes you discover things purely by accident. While digitizing tapes for a friend, i discovered footage of the wreck of the ss American Star. I've always been interested in her story, never got to see the wreck for myself and was therefore very happily surprised to discover that my friend Henk and his (now late) husband Wieger did go there. I immediately called Henk and asked him and he immediately confirmed the story. They even boarded the wreck for a short amount of time. I couldn't believe my ears...but there you have it. Wieger Pijlman filmed this footage back in 2004 and 2005. He sadly passed away in 2016, so this video is dedicated to him and his enthusiasm in always wanting to film everything.
